The million dollar question while battling the effects of a break up is “how do I know when I am over my ex?” We’ve come to the end of this guide of how to get over your ex girlfriend. By now you should understand your feelings and what to do about them. You should be aware of the potential destruction to your well being if you make the wrong choices and listen to the wrong people. You’re so cool about it that you can think about her having sex with another guy without that gut-wrenching feeling of intense jealousy.
. You don’t recognise your old broken-hearted self
You remember being that broken man and you know that you once struggled, but you can’t believe it was you and you’re almost embarrassed.
. You’re genuinely falling for another person
A new girl has taken your fancy and you sincerely like her for her own charms and attributes.
. You can go to places where your ex might be without worrying you’ll see her.
Also, you don’t have that wandering eye looking out for her everywhere you go.
. You no longer feel the need to compare or compete
I touched upon how you shouldn’t try to compete or race, but I know in the midst of anguish it’s hard not to. When you’ve stopped doing this, you’ll be well on your way.
Finally, the most important one:
. You feel apathy towards her
You can think about your ex girlfriend without feeling sad, happy or any defined emotion. You remember that you were once happy together and you are thankful for the good times you shared together, yet don’t feel any sentimental nostalgia about it. Hell, you may even wish her well. (I’m serious and yes, I too would never have believed me either).
I know through my experiences that I am over my ex girlfriend by only feeling one of the above – the rest just cements the fact.

HI Anthony, this is a fantastic guide. That is so necessary for men! It gave me reassurance, and taught me where im at emotionally and what i need to do about it. To further improve your guide i would recommend researching the enneagram to create 9 guides inline with a persons dominant personality type. Also, some information about getting new work and finding a new home, when a breakup puts a man in a financial crises where he loses everything and becomes initially dependent on close friends and family.

I think I am probably still in Bargaining stage and maybe that is the reason for following two questions: Can this be used always on every person, or better to say, is the core of problem always with everyone the same (although can be just hidden under more complicated explanation)? What if someone feels deep inside that she is the right one in every emotional/rational aspect, physically(beauty I mean) not so perfect (but then again who is, like you said), but broken up with her rationally because of her illness which can affect the future of our “potential” children and her own health on the long run, also limiting the way we can live compared to how I imagined/planned, could one say that the core of the problem is the same, although the cause is specific? I see this as a pedestal problem, but need to be reassured.

I’m not there yet, but I’m getting better. As most have predicted, she came back after seeing that the grass wasn’t greener, and after some grunge fucking on my part (bad idea, I know!), I broke it off with her, for the first time in our relationship. Now the clock has been reset, because I’m a dumbass!
